In August 2008 we only did the city of London, Ontario, and found ourselves a quiet country road so we could watch the Perseids meteor shower. We had sleeping bags and blankets, and we lay on the street and stared into the night sky to see the meteors. My camera was up in the sky, but it was not strong Enuff to capture the images, so you just have to judge by our reactions! It was one of the most fun and spontaneous things we did last year and oh, so beautifulto .......... There is no picture because the camera was not powerful Enuff to capture it, sorry.

The Orionids meteor shower peaks this week and it could be a very good show. The best time for flights is before dawn on Wednesday 21 October. That is when Earth the densest part of Halley's debris flow encounters. Orionids appear every year around this time when the earth by a region of space with ancient debris from the comet orbits covered. Normally, the shower produces 10 to 20 meteors per hour, a modest display. The past few years has been much better than usual.

I tried to give this sculpture with a quiet and gentle eroticism. A young couple spoons together in the cool and starry darkness of the night and August. Everyone is looking at another part of the sky, hoping to catch that fleeting moment when a meteor ignited and shooting from the blackness. Every year I am very excited the few nights in August when the Perseid meteor shower is overhead. To have someone taking the time to share with makes the experience that much more meaningful.

2009 Leonid Meteor Shower Time Lapse (11/16-11/17). Series, which can be seen in the early evening hours, from aircraft.
