Northern Lights - MOVE NOW: Earth's magnetic field is still echoing from yesterday's CME impact, and this causes the northern lights right now. "We were right to see the northern lights over the city lights," says Rosen. "I think the picture at 1:36 clock time was on August 5 with my Canon 5D Mark II". The display can be in the next few hours, intensify, as expected, a second CME is to help launch a new round of magnetic activity. NOAA forecasters estimate 30% of severe geomagnetic stormson 5 August. High latitude sky watchers, stay alert for auroras. Perseids spaceweather.com EARLY FIRE BALL: This week is the earth into a stream of dusty debris from comet Swift-Tuttle, the parent company of the annual Perseid meteor shower. We are now only in the outskirts of the stream. The shower head is not until 12 and 13 August, when we more deeply inside. Nevertheless, sky watchers are already seeing some early Perseids. "On Monday night, a Perseid meteor, about 1 inch in diameter and134,000 hours to travel miles entered the atmosphere 70 miles above Paint Rock, Alabama, "says Bill Cooke of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center." Moving in such a tremendous speed, cut the meteor path 65 miles long over this state, and finally burn up 56 miles above sea MACAY. It was 6 times brighter than the planet Venus - a good start to the Perseid meteor shower, "Stay tuned for more Perseids as the earth moves deeper into the debris stream.

NASA: Comets and meteor showers (Perseids meteor shower). --- Please Subscribe for Science and Reason: • www.youtube.com • www.youtube.com • www.youtube.com • www.youtube.com --- Have you ever wondered what these cosmic fireworks? Meteor showers are just colorful debris of a passing comet or, occasionally, the debris from a fragmented asteroid. When a comet approaches the sun, heating up its icy surface. This will cause clouds of gas, dust and dirt to be released and forms a tail of debris, can stretch for millions of miles. As Earth passes near this dusty tail, some of the small dust particles hit our atmosphere. Create and burn them to enjoy large celestial fireworks for us. NASA creates meteor shower forecasts to prevent potential risks that launch spacecraft and orbiting the earth. NASA also monitors the showers to check the accuracy of the predictions. Are you ready for this year's Perseid meteor shower? What is the best place to be able to see and when is the best time to be around to see "shooting stars"? Follow along and let us out the Perseid meteor shower has a wonderful and somewhat gruesome history. Often called "Tears of St. Lawrence referred to this annual shower occurs randomly about the same time as the saint's death reminds on 10 August. While scientifically we know the appearance of shooting stars, arethe by-products of the comet Swift-Tuttle, our little superstitious ancestors regarded as the tears of a man who was martyred for his faith burned. Who could not appreciate a guy who had the openness to quip: "I am already roasted on one side, and if you want me well cooked, it's time to make myself on the other." as they burned alive? If nothing else, to save as much for the contents, I will lead a wave of St. Lawrence in the sight of a Perseid! While the rate of fall in the number ofseen the Perseid meteors per hour in recent years since Swift-Tuttle back in 1992, the time to see your Perseids start, is now declining. The random rate has already risen sharply and there is no guarantee that the sky above the predicted peak time traditionally clear 12th August at about 11:00 GMT. The tears of St. Lawrence are already beginning to fall! Let's join John Chumack on its northeast sky camera # 2 in his backyard observatory in Dayton, Ohio, USA, for a look. The 5 ...

North Mont, PA in the Endless Mountains We left at 2.30 clock on 13 August 2010 motion to film the Perseid meteor shower. We failed. 100% under cloudy skies meant no stars and no meteor. We shot anyway hoping for a break in the clouds. About 6:00, the sun gave us the break we were looking for, but it was too late to see the night sky. Instead, we have some of the layered clouds I've ever seen filmed. I would think it turned out better than any meteor showers have motion. Have fun!

This is a time-lapse movie with a Canon 400D SLR camera. Each frame is a 40sec exposure at ISO 1600, (to be recorded almost the entire sky dome) by a very wide angle lens. Overall, about 5 hours is a row claims the video is running at 600x normal time. Unfortunately, very few meteors were caught, because the imaging system is not really sensitive to light. Note: Looks best at 720 resolution. See picture on picasaweb Startrails: picasaweb.google.com
